2023 WSOP Day 31 Highlights
2023 Updates from Various WSOP Events
The stage was set on the last day of June for the four scheduled final tables of the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the prominent Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas. The expectation was for four prestigious bracelets to be presented to the victorious players. However, this day had a twist, resulting in only one of the much-coveted bracelets being awarded. The remaining three tournaments extended into an unplanned additional day, leaving participants and spectators in suspense.

A Day Filled with Competitive Poker Games
In addition to the final tables, seven more events added to the fervor of the day. The intensity and competitive spirit displayed throughout these games contributed to an atmosphere of anticipation and uncertainty.
The Race for the Ten Gold Bracelets
The day was particularly significant for Erik Seidel, who was playing poker in Event #60: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw. A strong sense of expectation filled the air as Seidel had the potential to join the ranks of the few who have won at least ten gold WSOP bracelets, a feat only achieved by four players in history. But to the disappointment of many, Seidel fell out of the running, finishing his event in fifth.
Jason Mercier Emerges Victorious
All was not lost as a new champion emerged from the high stakes poker players of these classic games. Jason Mercier rose to the occasion, showing his skill and strategy in a heads-up showdown against Mike Watson. The game concluded with Mercier securing his sixth WSOP bracelet, adding another significant milestone to his remarkable poker career.
Dzivielevski Brothers Show Their Poker Prowess
Earlier this month, Yuri Dzivielevski secured his third WSOP bracelet, setting a precedent for his sibling, Vitor. Vitor Dzivielevski now stands as the chip leader with 3,425,000 chips going into Day 3 of Event #65: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em (6-Handed). With only 48 competitors left and a whopping prize of $938,244 for the winner, Vitor Dzivielevski has a real chance to earn his own WSOP bracelet.
Exciting Developments in Event #61 and Event #62
Event #61: $1,000 Super Seniors was a competitive scene as the pool of players shrunk from 3,121 to a mere 13. Leading the remaining participants into the final day’s action is Rassoul Malboubi with a commanding stack of 10,150,000 chips. Not far behind him is Farhad Davoudzadeh with 9,000,000 chips, who started Day 3 as the chip leader.
In Event #62: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha, David Prociak leads the final five players with a stack of 21,450,000 chips. As it stands, Prociak looks set to win the second bracelet of his poker career.
Unsettled Championships and Aspiring Champions
The scheduled final day of Event #63: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship concluded with no champion crowned. Six players, led by Ryan Miller with 2,230,000 chips, will return to compete for the title.
Cade Lautenbacher, who won a bracelet in the 2022 WSOP, is leading the field in Event #64: $600 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack Championship. Only 43 players, including strong contenders like Jonathan Fhima and Julian Pineda, stand in the way of Lautenbacher securing his second bracelet.
Strong Leads and Record-Breaking Attendance
William Kopp enjoys a robust lead going into the final day of Event #66: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better. Holding more than 25% of the chips in play and a big enough lead that if he doubled up the player in 2nd place, he would still have more than 20 bigs over third place, Kopp will be a tough contender to beat.
Event #67: $1,000 Ladies Championship has witnessed record-breaking attendance with 1,295 entries, surpassing the previous year’s record by nine. After ten levels, only 330 participants remain, led by Bernice McLennan. Other prominent players include Katrina Lim, Karina Jett, and Vanessa Kade.
Event #68 Progress and Predictions
The colossal crowd of 2,854 competitors in Event #68: $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty proved too vast to determine a winner in a single day. With only nine players left in the game, the directors suspended the proceedings, to be resumed at 2:00 p.m. on June 30. Gabriel Schroeder, who holds the highest stack of 13,675,000 chips, is the key contender going into Day 2.
Exciting Prospects for Event #69
Event #69: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship commenced with 126 players, a number expected to rise as late registration stays open until Day 2. Two-time WSOP champion Michael Moncek leads the pack, finishing Day 1 with an impressive 452,000 chips. The event features poker stalwarts such as Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Mike Matusow, Eli Elezra, and Johnny Chan.
Anticipation for Day 32 of the 2023 WSOP
Day 32 of the 2023 WSOP promises to be a day of celebrations with several events set to crown their champions. The outcome of Event #61: $1,000 Super Seniors, Event #62: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold’em/Pot-Limit Omaha, Event #63: $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better, Event #66: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better, and Event #68: $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty will be determined on this day.
The potential champion of Event #64: $600 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack Championship will also become clearer, while Event #65: $5,000 No-Limit Hold’em (6-Handed), Event #67: $1,000 Ladies Championship, and Event #69: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship will continue to narrow down their fields.
Upcoming Events to Look Forward To
Two notable tournaments are set to kick-start the weekend. Event #70: $400 Colossus is expected to draw more than 15,000 participants over two starting flights, making it a highly-anticipated event. Meanwhile, Event #71: $50,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller is likely to feature the cream of the poker world, promising a high-stakes, high-action tournament.
