Day 32: Ryan Miller Triumphs in $10,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
In an intense showdown that stretched into a fourth day, Ryan Miller emerged as the victor of the Stud Eight or Better Championship at the prestigious 2023 World Series Of Poker. After a heads-up battle that lasted over five hours, Ryan Miller claimed victory, earning him $344,677 and his first WSOP bracelet. This was a monumental achievement for Miller, who had diligently worked on his poker skills since his first cash in the WSOP in 2007.

David Simon Clinches His First Bracelet in $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold ’em/Pot-Limit Omaha
David Simon, after six successful cashes in the 2023 World Series of Poker, celebrated his seventh by becoming a WSOP bracelet winner. His triumph was the result of outlasting 2,076 contenders over a challenging four-day contest. His final face-off with David Prociak culminated in his win of $410,659 and a maiden bracelet in Event #62: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold ’em/Pot-Limit Omaha. Despite his previous best cash being a modest $18,158 in 2019, Simon displayed unwavering focus and calm throughout the event. Residing on the serene Hawaiian island of Kauai, Simon acknowledged the massive boost this victory brought to his poker career.
Gabriel Schroeder of Brazil Conquers $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty, Wins $228,632
The $1,000 Super Turbo Bounty drew 2,854 competitors and created a total prize pool of $2,513,360. Out of these, nine finalists returned to determine the victor. Two hours later, Gabriel Schroeder of Brazil secured his first gold bracelet and the top prize of $228,632, along with 15 bounties valued at $300 each. Primarily an online player, 32-year-old Schroeder, already celebrating a recent strong finish at the Venetian, began the final table as the chip leader. Following his victory, he shared a heartfelt moment, kissing pictures of his wife and young daughter.
Klaus Ilk from Austria Claims Win in $1,000 Super Seniors, Earning $371,603
Overcoming four taxing days of play and 3,121 competitors, Klaus Ilk of Austria emerged victorious in the 2023 World Series of Poker Event #61: $1,000 Super Seniors No Limit Hold ’em tournament. His success secured him a gold bracelet and a prize of $371,603. With this win, Ilk multiplied his lifetime winnings tenfold, an impressive increase from his previous largest cash of $11,351. Ilk, who started the day with just eight big blinds, managed to outlast 12 other competitors to claim the first prize, becoming the seventh Austrian to receive a bracelet.
William Kopp Secures Victory in $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha 8 or Better, Winning $259,549
William Kopp emerged victorious in a hard-fought match against Michael Rodrigues in Event #66: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better. The Ohio native triumphed over 1,125 players to claim his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet and a first-place prize of $259,549. Kopp added to his $1 million career tournament earnings and joined his sister, Katie Kopp, a previous WSOP bracelet winner. The win marked Kopp’s eighth cash of the series and the biggest of his career to date. Growing up in a family where poker played a significant role, Kopp acknowledges their influence on his journey to success.
Day 33: Phil Hellmuth Achieves Record-Breaking Seventeenth Bracelet Win in $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty
The highlight of day 33 was Phil Hellmuth’s amazing victory in Event #72: $10,000 Super Turbo Bounty. Hellmuth’s seventeenth bracelet win transpired after an intense 16-hour session. The showdown saw two poker legends, Hellmuth and Phil Ivey, competing at the final table. However, Ivey ended up in the sixth spot, taking home $133,461. Hellmuth’s mastery prevailed, besting Justin Zaki in the final heads-up match to secure the record-extending bracelet.
David Guay Clinches WSOP Bracelet on Canada Day in $600 Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold ’em
David Guay, a Montreal native, celebrated Canada Day with a triumphant win in Event #64: $600 Deepstack Championship No-Limit Texas Hold’em, earning his first WSOP gold bracelet. The event attracted a substantial field of 4,303 poker players, generating a prize pool of $2,194,530. Guay’s victory brought him $271,032 amidst competitors that included notable names such as Kristen Deardorff, Conrad Simpson, Martin Zamani, Matt Affleck, and Erik Cajelais.
Weiran Pu Conquers $5,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold ’em, Wins $938,244
Weiran Pu emerged victorious in Event #65: $5,000 6-Handed No-Limit Hold ’em, claiming the grand prize of $938,244. Given that higher-stakes shorthanded events are notoriously challenging, Pu’s win marks a prestigious first bracelet achievement. The players’ list was peppered with notable names such as Stephen Song, Chris Brewer, James Obst, Phil Ivey, Scott Seiver, David “Bakes” Baker, Ryan Leng, and Ian Matakis. Pu’s triumph came after he outperformed Norbert Szecsi in the final heads-up match, leaving Szecsi with a substantial second-place cash of $407,040.
Day 34: Tamar Abraham Clinches $1,000 Ladies Championship, Making History
Tamar Abraham became the first female to win a bracelet in the 2023 WSOP in Event #67: $1,000 Ladies Championship. Starting the final day with only seven players, Abraham outlasted the competition, securing her first WSOP bracelet and a prize of $192,167.

Event #69: $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship extended into an unplanned fourth day, seeing David “ODB” Baker, Chris Brewer, and Alex Livingston returning to the tables. Brewer, however, stole the show, securing his second bracelet of the series.
