GGPoker World Festival 2024 Week 5
As the penultimate weekend of the 2024 GGPoker World Festival is coming to a close, the excitement and intense competition are still peaking. The festival has already reached nearly $200 million in guarantees, with almost $50 million won over the weekend alone. There is still over $50 million more guaranteed in upcoming events over the final week. The stakes are high, and the leaderboard races are still going strong.
Since our last update, over 130 events have concluded, showcasing the festival’s diversity and excitement. While we will highlight key events across each tier, let’s first take a closer look at the action on four leaderboards, each worth a total of $2.5 million.
Leaderboard Updates
The $1,000,000 Super High Leaderboard continues to be dominated by ‘R Romanovskyi’, who added over 300 points to his score over the weekend. The podium remains unchanged, with Niklas Astedt in second place, having kept pace with the leader, and David Peters, who fell a bit further back, in third. Despite the gap, the numerous remaining events ensure that the competition will remain fierce over the last week.
Andrii Derzhypilskyi remains in fourth place, having climbed to 2,616 points, while Bert Stevens climbed into fifth, completing the top five with an increase to 2,535 points. Jans Arends fell into sixth place with 2,380 points. The rest of the top 10 remains the same: Alex Theologis sits in seventh place with 2,347 points, while Pedro Padilha is in eighth place with 2,312 points. Vladimir Minko jumps into ninth place with 2,274, and Juan Dominguez in tenth with 2,237 points.
In the High Stakes Leaderboard, the competition remains fierce among the top two positions. ‘Jacopo Olivieri’ still holds the lead with 5,152.14, but ‘AyrtonSenn@’ is right behind in second with 5,012.12, just 140 points behind. The race for third through sixth position also remains tight, although it is over 500 points behind second. ‘Iambeggar’ sits in third with 5,510, ‘EvilDrake’ is at 4,439 in fourth, N Maimone maintains his fifth place with 4,360 points, and ‘Chicharito14’, rounds out the top 6 with 4,314 points. With a total prize pool of $750,000 and rewards extending to the top 300 participants, this race is sure to go down to the wire.
On the Medium Stakes Leaderboard, the top 2 spots flipped, and now ‘Bowrot-’ leads ‘zemachess’ by less than 2 points, 6,050.11 to 6,048.77. Last week 5th place, ‘SpicyTaco’ has continued their great run and now sits in third with 5,934 points, while ‘SzwamyChlapiec’ and ‘buenaonda’ both fell 1 spot to fourth and fifth with 5,809 and 5,799 points, respectively. With just one week to go, this incredibly tight race will be something to keep an eye on as the top 500 players on the Medium leaderboard will share a total of $500,000.
In the Low Stakes Leaderboard, the top two have kept their positioning, with ‘Survivor39’ in the lead with 6,626.93 points and ‘Marin win’ in second with 6,512.29, having caught up by nearly 100 points. The top 2 have put a non-insignificant gap to third as ‘maruzzz’ is almost 300 points back at 6,255. Fourth place has remained unchanged, with ‘Farsaa’ at 6,136 points, while fifth place is now held by ‘KingOfAllins’ with 6,002 points on this leaderboard, which will distribute $250,000 across the top 1,000 players.
Super High Stakes
Highlighting the Super High events was the $25,500 GGMillion$ Omaholic Edition, held on June 2nd. This event saw ‘Dante Fernandes’ top the 44 entrants to win $375,903.76. The event surpassed its $1,000,000 guarantee, with the five final players sharing a $1,100,000 prize pool.
Another notable Super High event was Event 307-S: Sunday Showdown HR [Mystery Bounty], featuring a $1,050 buy-in and a $500,000 guarantee. This event attracted 660 competitors, creating a prize pool of $660,000. ‘C Jeppsson‘ secured the top spot, earning $74,539.26, including $26,690 in bounties. The winner of the biggest bounty in this Mystery Bounty was ‘IronMyJacket’, who finished 36th but earned $59,000 in bounties, plus $1,543.55 for his finish.
High Stakes
One of the biggest events of the past weekend was Event 301-H: $525 Bounty Hunters HR Main Event. This tournament guaranteed $1,000,000, which was exceeded as the 2,888 players created a prize pool of $1,444,000. Taking just under 11.5 hours, when the last hand was dealt it was ‘BentheBlaster’ claiming the victory worth $70,436.87 and earning an additional $54,393.52 in bounties.
In another High tier tournament, Event 302-H: $1,050 GGMasters High Rollers World Festival attracted 857 contenders, offering a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000. The competition lasted nearly 12 hours, with ‘Martin Diaz’ claiming victory over ‘Mikleler’ and ‘mirroring’ after a 3-way chop. The three players earned $87,262.51, $89,201.82, and $101,483.03, respectively from the $857,000 prize pool.
Medium Stakes
The Medium tier saw significant turnout for Event 301-M: $54 Bounty Hunters Sunday Main Event on June 2nd, surpassing its $750,000 guarantee with 19,306 entries. After nearly 10 hours and 20 minutes of play, ‘BadProbBet’ emerged victorious, winning the biggest share of the $965,300 prize pool, earning $58,577.87, including $24,760.56 in bounties.
Event 289-M: $54 Bounty Hunters Daily Main [Big Bounties] in the Medium tier attracted 7,971 players, creating a $398,550 prize pool, surpassing the $300,000 guarantee. ‘CryptoKing21’ claimed victory, earning $6,356.04 plus $16,426.88 in bounties.
Low Stakes
On the Low tier, Event 290-L: $25 Saturday Mini Secret KO [Mystery Bounty] on June 1st attracted 12,779 players, creating a $304,140 prize pool, well over the $200,000 guarantee. ‘Denas Pranaitis’ won the event, earning $13,347.40 plus $1,860 in bounties. However, the standouts were ‘GuaVa1337’, who finished 93rd, and ‘Ryanninhos,’ who both found over $20,000 in bounties, earning a total of $30,579.18 and $20,088.01, respectively.
Finally, Event 302-L: $15 Sunday Hundred Grand in the Low tier drew 8,887 players, growing the $100,000 guarantee into a $122,640 prize pool. The tournament ended after nearly 11 hours, with ‘JuliaK’ emerging victorious after a 4-way chop with ‘ondirki IIII,’ ‘VillyTheKid,’ and ‘Capita08’. They earned $7,210, $8,547, $8,031, and $8,336, respectively.
