Event #3 – This Week
The third event of the week in the official World Series of Poker Super Circuit series was event #9: Super GIANT No Limit Hold’em. Like many of the Ring events in this poker tournament series, this tournament guaranteed a $1,000,000 guarantee in addition to the coveted WSOP ring. The relatively low $365 buy-in was attractive to a multitude of players as 4,379 jumped at the chance to become the champion. Creating a prize pool of $1,486,451.55 and a top prize of $162,420.91. It took just over 30 hours, over 2 days of play, for ‘Mertseger’ to claim the victory in this championship event.
Meanwhile, in Ontario, the same event #9 guaranteed $125,000, due to the smaller player pool, in addition to the WSOP circuit ring. The Ontario market, although smaller, still managed to attract 558 players creating a prize pool of $189,413.10. As play wound down at the end of Day 2, it was ‘HiRollinRasta’ that found themselves atop the pile of players to claim the top prize of $31,211.55.
