The World Series of Poker Online – Week 2
Week two of the 4th annual World Series of Poker Online (WSOP-O), the world’s most prestigious poker tournament series, hosted by GGPoker; the world’s biggest poker room, has finished. Since our previous update, 6 more World Series of Poker bracelets (including 1 in the Ontario-exclusive WSOP) have been awarded. While there are no events currently running their final day, there are a multitude of satellites and Day 1’s available to be played, including for Event #28: WSOP Online Main Event – a $5,000 entry tournament offering a $25,000,000 guarantee.
Additionally, within the scope of the series, the next 5 Continental freerolls have taken place, distributing $195,000 in prizes. A total of 4,454 participants battled in these events, with 1,175 of them dividing a prize pool that included 8 $10,000 tournament entries to the 2023 WSOP Paradise.
The first event to award a bracelet over the past week was World Series of Poker Online Event #5: Ladies No Limit Hold’em Championship. This $500 buy-in event attracted a total of 167 players and created a prize pool of $79,325. With the first day of the event on August 26th, the survivors had to wait a full week to finish. At the end of play, it was ‘butfirstwine’ who won the event and earned $16,612.66 for the effort and the gold bracelet.
WSOP Bracelet Events
Event #9: Bounty No Limit Hold’em, the second event of the WSOP Online poker tournament series this past week, created a total prize pool of $848,232 on a $320 buy-in. A total of 2,856 players joined the festivities and the chase for a World Series of Poker Championship Bracelet and the bounties. The tournament ended with the player ‘Nextgoal’, flying the Canadian flag, topping the pack, claiming the bracelet, the top prize of $33,635.42 and an additional $31,960 in bounties, plus securing the $50,000 Freeroll for the Americas..
The third event of the week in the official World Series of Poker Online tournament series was event #10: Beat the Pros Bounty NLH. Similar to most of the events in this poker tournament series, there was no prize guarantee other than the coveted WSOP bracelet. The $1,050 buy-in without a guarantee did not scare off anyone as 956 players jumped at the chance to become the champion, and KOing a pro. Creating a prize pool of $956,000 and a top prize of $38,260.85. It took just under 28 hours over 2 days of play for ‘Leonid Yanovich’ to claim the victory in this championship event. The player also earned $72,582.10 in bounties for his work.
The Weekend Events
Sunday, September 3rd at 14:00 UTC marked the start of the Go Stage of the $1,000,000 guaranteed Flip & Go Event #11 as part of the World Series of Poker online poker tournament series. The event carried a $100 buy-in which brought a total of 7,688 players to fight for the victory. It took just over 7 hours for the Flip survivors to play down to a winner as when the last hand played out, it was ‘yiliuqi’ claiming the championship for $122,586.92 after defeating ‘SuperSolid’, who was consoled with $90,689.96.
The third event of the second weekend of the World Series of Poker Online poker tournament series was the big event #12: Mini Main Event No Limit Hold’em. This $500 entry event was one of the few events to offer a guarantee, in the case a solid $2.5 million. The event which had multiple day 1’s leading up to the Monday finale, had 8,709 players jump into the fray to fight for the victory. Only 891 entrants were able to successfully navigate to day 2 and fight for a share of the $3,565,350 prize pool. When the final cards were dealt, it was ‘gaosinimen999’ claiming the $326,692.04 top prize while 2nd through 4th all earned over $100,000.
Ontario
Only one bracelet event ran in the exclusive Ontario WSOP Bracelet series, Event #3: Ontario MILLION$ Mini Main Event. The $100,000 guaranteed tournament was scheduled to run its day 2 on September 4th at 18:00ET. The $300 buy-in Event attracted 2,004 total players creating a prize pool of $184,368. 223 players made it to Day 2, which took took less than 5.5 hours to play out. In the end, it was ‘Justin Ouimette’ winning the bracelet and the $25,368.54 top prize.
The second week of the WSOP Online kept the rollercoaster ride going. Millions were won and players from all over tried to win a World Series of Poker bracelet, with the additional reward of bringing a Freeroll to their Continental compatriots worth thousands in free money.
